My name is Jana Kennedy
I grew up in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. As a family, our tropical vacations generally included all-inclusive resorts, warnings not to leave the resort other than for tours, and in turn very commercial activities and lack of culture. I, however, couldn’t resist the pull to have more authentic experiences. After visiting the Riviera Maya three times in one year, staying with the locals, eating tacos on the side of the road, and having many unique outdoor and cultural experiences I knew that I was home.
I have now been living here for 9 years.
After a few years of working in local tourism and meeting people from all walks of life, I realized that many people came here and never truly experienced the Riviera Maya. I spent the last 4 years working in the 5-diamond luxury hotel Banyan Tree Mayakoba where I received my most extensive training in the true meaning of customer service, the importance of attention to detail, and how to make each experience unique. There I also had the pleasure of meeting the person I am lucky to call my Co-Founder, Mauricio.

Hello, Mauricio García at your service
I grew up in Minnesota, USA but my parents are from Yucatan, Merida, one of Mexico’s most cultural cities deeply influenced by the Mayan civilization. Needless to say, from the beginning I’ve had a connection to the area. That connection grew much deeper once I got fed up with winter and decided to move to Playa Del Carmen to live with my uncle and get in touch with my roots. Living in Playa, I was mesmerized by the culture, my culture that I had never known nor experienced. After living like a true Playense (local) for a couple of months I started working at Banyan Tree Mayakoba. This has been my school for hospitality and everything involved with travel since 2013. I’ve grown through the ranks of the Rooms Division from Bell Man to Beach Resort Host VIP Concierge which has given me a keen eye for detail and a broad understanding of all that’s required to create a luxurious experience. There I met Jana and we quickly discovered that we share a passion for providing genuine service while creating tailormade experiences to each guest we encounter.
